Milwaukee projects ranging from a redeveloped distillery to artistic bus stops are among the winners of this year`s Mayor’s Design Awards.
This year`s program, in its 25th year, has 25 awards. They will be presented at a 5 p.m. May 18 ceremony at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Planning, 2131 E. Hartford Ave.
The honorees are divided into four categories: Spaces and Places, Test of Time, Neighborhood Renaissance and Vibrant Connections...
Brady Beach, 1668 N. Warren Ave. Nomad Pub and Club Brady worked together to
close part of North Warren Avenue between their two taverns and create new outdoor seating named “Brady Beach.”
Central Standard Craft Distillery, 320 E. Clybourn St.
Central Standard
renovated a long-vacant 16,200-square foot building into an updated
distillery, restaurant, bar, events space and rooftop patio. Architect
& Engineer: HGA.
Schlitz Park, 1542 N. Second St. Crossroads Plaza at Schlitz Park
links together previously separated buildings into a
pedestrian-friendly campus with public gathering spaces. It features
a mural reflecting the historic nature of the former brewery
complex while looking to Milwaukee’s future. Architect:
